William Dashwood Mime
William Dashwood began his performing career as a musician. In search of improved presentation he turned to mime and went on to study in Paris with Etienne Decroux, the father of modern mime. During the last thirty years he has built up an international reputation as a mime performer and teacher.
His approach to performance is specific:
“Mime is an art of imitation which uses the movement of the human body as its central expressive element.”
He was founding co-director of Animate Theatre and has made numerous solo and ensemble performances, not only in Europe but more recently in the USA and Canada, and as far afield as Alaska and the National Theatre of Taiwan.
