Music
The musical idiom of Williams songs is clearly inspired by the wonderful music of the sixties. To me it brings to mind the music of the Beatles, but also of such singer-songwriters as Cat Stevens, or Loudon Wainwright III. Above that, I'm impressed by the quality of his lyrics: always original, free of clichés, sometimes very witty and often with a philosophical twist.

What I like so much about Williams songs is that the text and music fit together seamlessly. Poetic, sensitive and sometimes witty (then I think mainly of 'Mutilated Lady') texts.
